Step into the joyful world of printmaking with Lydia as your guide. This hands-on course is all about discovering the magic of linocut and fabric printing—learning the essential techniques, understanding the materials, and finding the confidence to carry on creating from the comfort of your own home. Lydia’s passion is contagious, and her mission is simple: to get you printing and loving it.
Linocut is a wonderfully accessible art form—no experience needed, just a willingness to experiment and play. It’s straightforward, satisfying, and surprisingly mess-free! You’ll have the chance to carve your own designs, blend your own colours, and also print with Lydia’s own collection of hand-carved lino and woodblocks.
Each participant will receive a tea towel and a tote bag to transform into something uniquely yours—a canvas for your creativity, a piece of functional art.
Course Level: Perfect for complete beginners, while also welcoming to those with a little printmaking experience looking to deepen their practice.
If you choose the take-home kit, you’ll be well-equipped to keep the inspiration flowing. The kit includes:
5 lino-cutting tools
2 soft-cut lino blocks
1 inking tray
3 paint sponges
50ml of vibrant fabric paint

There are 2 Basic Types of Workshop run by Lovely Lydia:
If you can hold a print block, you can do this workshop- no other pre-requisites!
This workshop involves using sharp tools to cut your lino so it does require a bit of hand dexterity. You don’t need to be able to draw.
My workshops are open to all abilities and age groups. Workshops are generally aimed at adults but kids can come to – I also also “Family Editions” which are aimed at adults and kids together. For Linocut Workshops I generally suggest it’s suitable for kids over 8.

Lydia will also bring along some examples of block printing to demonstrate and provide inspiration!
If you would like to bring some of your own fabric or ready made clothing to print during class please do. Lydia may request a small extra charge for paint if the item to be printed is very large and requires a lot of fabric paint for your project.

Workshops are a super way for a group of people to get together! And you really don’t need a lot of space to run them (and I can advise on that!).

As Venues and Materials need to be paid/ purchased ahead of the course going ahead, a full refund is available if you cancel up to 72 hours before the workshop. Thereafter it would be a 50% refund.
If I cancel the workshop you would be fully refunded.
Please note that when the workshop is being hosted by the venue (ie you book with them and not with me) they will have their own cancellation policies.
