A fab little treat for the Mother’s Day weekend! Printing to fabrics is a fab way of imprinting your unique style on accessories that can adorn your home or take out and about with you. This workshop is a perfect way to give fabric printing a try and have fun at the same time. Everyone will have scrap fabric to practise on, then a 40cm square blank cushion cover to print on and take home.
The workshop is hosted by Lydia, a fabric printer, maker and dressmaker from Orford, Suffolk. Lydia runs her own microbusiness printing and making personal and home accessories inspired by the corner of Coast and Country where she lives. Her prints are adorned with Hares, Foxes, Bees and Seedheads, as well as Lobsters, Crabs and creatures of the sea.
A true lover of the art of relief block printing, Lydia brings all her own designed linocut print blocks but also her vast collection of Indian carved woodblocks. This includes traditional flower and paisley designs amongst abstract shape prints and almost everything else you can think of. Picking what to print may be the most challenging part of the evening!
Added to a rainbow of paint colours to play and experiment with, Lydia will offer what guidance you need to print your design to take home on a blank Natural Cotton 40 x40 cm cushion cover. (Cushion pad not included). A great creative way to spend an evening and go away with new skills that can take you all sorts of places.
