BATH- Print & Make a Lampshade Workshop Sunday 14th January 2024

13.30- 16.00 Sunday 14th January 2024

Workshop Venue- New Oriel Hall, Larkhall, Bath More details on the venue below

A fun and laid back workshop where you'll be printing wood-block and Linocuts onto fabric and making your design into a drum lampshade. All techniques will be demonstrated - it really is easier than you think and perfect for an afternoon of creativity.

Lydia is a fabric printer, maker, dressmaker from the Suffolk Coast and runs her own microbusiness printing and making personal and home accessories. With her experience and guidance you'll have an afternoon printing with a huge range of wooden printing blocks and linocut designs, with all her paint colours to print. Then making the design into a lampshade looks tricky but once you've been shown, it's really straightforward. Trust me!

**Please note there is also a morning workshop run by Lydia- Textile printing to print a tea towel and tote bag which goes really well with this class. Both classes are standalone but if you would also like to book on this course there is a reduced rate for both classes. The combined class would also be ideal for anyone who wants to bring their own fabric to print - for example for another textile or dressmaking project.

Linocut for Textiles - Cambridge Art Makers

This is a lovely introduction to both lino cutting, a printmaking process, and creating your own textiles!

On this course Lydia will talk through the basic techniques, how the materials work and what you need (including where to get it) to complete the course and carry on linocutting and printing fabric at home. Her mission is to get you printing!

The method is very straight-forward, accessible for all abilities and easy to do at home… as printing goes, it’s pretty un-messy too! You will have the opportunity to explore your own designs and mix your own colours as well as using Lydia’s own linocuts and woodcut printing blocks. If you have your own woodcut blocks you are welcome to bring these too, just make sure they are clearly labelled or you have a photograph of yours so they don’t get muddled.

Everyone will get 1 tea towel and 1 tote bag to print on.

Those who select and pay for a kit will get the following to take home to continue to play: *5 Lino-cutting Tools * 2 pieces of Soft-Cut Lino * 1 Inking Tray *3 paint sponges * 50ml fabric paint.
