Meet Lydia, a talented fabric printer, maker, and dressmaker based in Orford. She operates her own micro-business showcasing her charming Suffolk-inspired designs featuring hares, bees, lobsters, and lighthouses, transformed into fashionable accessories for individuals and homes. Under Lydia's expert guidance, you will unleash your creativity while experimenting with a diverse array of wooden printing blocks, linocut designs, and a vibrant spectrum of colours.
All necessary printing materials, including a cotton tea towel and tote bag, will be supplied. This workshop is catered to adults but is also suitable for creative young minds looking to explore the art of fabric printing.
A fab opportunity at Tracey’s Sewing Room in Dorking.. Lydia will teach you how to print to fabric using wooden and lino printing blocks, and in a later class Tracey can teach you to sew the cushion together, with intricacies such as piping etc… (ps Tracey’s Sew an Overlapped Cushion Cover Class will be Saturday afternoon 22nd June 2-5pm, see her website for details)
Printing to fabrics is a fab way of imprinting your unique style on accessories that can adorn your home or take out and about with you. This workshop is a perfect way to give fabric printing a try and have fun, and create a print on your own cushion front-piece. Everyone will have scrap fabric to practise on, as well as a 45cm square piece of fabric (a choice of linen or cotton) to print. This can then be sewn into a cushion at a later date with the accoutrements of your choice.
The Block Printing workshop is hosted by Lydia, a fabric printer, maker and dressmaker from Suffolk. Lydia runs her own microbusiness printing and making personal and home accessories inspired by the corner of Coast and Country where she lives. Her prints are adorned with hares and seedheads, as well as Lobsters, Crabs and Mermaids. With her experience and guidance you'll spend the afternoon printing using her huge range of wooden printing blocks and linocut designs, with a rainbow of paint colours to play and experiment with. A great creative way to spend an afternoon and go away with new skills that can take you on to all sorts of places.
